If you don't like games core mechanic - don't play or use mods. Sure there is time gating as well, there is also some grinding, but it has enough meaningful activity on the side + interesting written characters that all of the waiting doesn't really hurt all that much. Stardew Valley doesn't fall into this trap, that's what makes it so popular. The games felt like a chore and that's not the point of a game. At some point in time I wasn't enjoying myself anymore. Graveyard Keeper for example at some point became waaaay to grind heavy. MTaP had a huge problem with timegating (for me at least). Just let me tell you guys: There are some mechanics that make a game boring AF and both time gating and too much grinding are among these things. Stamina right now is not fully balanced against items and the skill tree, so there are issues. But this loop can be broken so easy (for example by spending your stamina too fast) leaving you with nothing to do but waiting. Alright? So ideally your gameplay loop is: grind resources, process them (which takes time) and grind for more resources in the meantime so that when you return your processing is finished. This was my biggest criticism in My Time at Portia and ultimately lead me to put the game aside in frustration and it is very much true in this game as well. The fact, that you have to process a huge amount of resources (in the furnace for example) and that you always have to wait for the processing to finish is really annoying. ![]() after playing the demo for a bit, I have 2 main points that I want to give feedback on.įirst, just like with My Time at Portia, the game has already a huge problem with grinding and waiting.
